Indigo Dye/Batik: Morven

- $105

One of the oldest dyes used for coloring fabrics comes from the indigo plant. The beautiful blues are made from leaves which are fermented, removing the oxygen before Indigo can dye fabric. Learn this ancient and unusual art of Indigo dyeing, as well as how to twist, clamp, pleat and pattern the fabrics to get stunning results. Soy wax batik will also be taught in conjunction with Indigo, giving you a range of skill to create traditional, ethnic batiks, as well as modern, edgy designs.
Everything is provided including samples, handouts, and a silk scarf and a cotton Tee that you will dye and take home.  $20.00 material fee is paid directly to the instructor.
Bring lunch to enjoy during the 30 minute break at midday.
Registration is exclusively through the Arts Council of Princeton; for more information and to register, please visit www.artscouncilofprinceton.org. For more information on Morven Museum & Garden, visit http://historicmorven.org/ View more information or register.
