Handmade Books I: Basics

- $75

Basic Techniques & Covers
Register for one, two or all three sessions in this new three-part workshop in handmade books. Participants will create an array of books using a variety of techniques and materials. Each week, the instructor will introduce a new book design variation that will build on the previous class, but new students are welcome to join at any time. During this first session, students will learn basic book-making techniques and explore the possibilities in cover design. They will create paste papers using decorative techniques popular with book artists (a sort of marbleizing effect perfect for book covers and other special features). Participants will also learn the “tricks” as to how to make books from a single sheet of paper. There will be discussions and examples that will elaborate on how book-making can be used in creating unique and individualized works of art.
A materials fee of $15 is payable directly to the instructor.

REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED —just drop in and pay at the door ($12/$10 ACP members). View more information or register.
