Canvas-Stretching W/S

- $85

Stretching and preparing a canvas for painting is almost a rite of passage for art students. With an abundance of ready-made products, it has become a lost art. Stretching your own canvas, however, is still an economical alternative, particularly for larger works with non-standard dimensions. Some may also prefer to create a different painting surface than the conventional white gessoed products available.

In this 1-day workshop, students will use an alternate method of stretching, working from the corners to the centers of the stretchers, rather than the convention of starting at the centers and working towards the corners. The advantages of this method will be discussed. All materials will be supplied, and everyone will leave with their own stretched canvas (maximum 36″x36″), ready for surface preparation and painting.

The Arts Council of Princeton and Chimera Productions present On an Average Day.

Robert is a man clearly in trouble with a life on the fringes of society when his brother, Jack, arrives for an impromptu visit that sets them on a collision course with the past where even getting a beer from the fridge is a task that comes with way too much baggage.

Tickets go on sale at the door at 7:30pm and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Directed by Jeffrey Alan David and Drew Griffiths
Starring: Jeffrey Alan Davis and David Sullivan

Supreme Love Orchestra: Summer Courtyard Concert

- Free and Open to the Public!

As part of the 31st annual Summer Courtyard Concert Series, the Arts Council of Princeton and Princeton Shopping Center present the Supreme Love Orchestra. There is a bond, a connection, visceral, unspoken, between musicians in a musical group. The Supreme Love Orchestra under the direction of John Henry Goldman play together impeccably through some unseen link, changing rhythms and tempos and feels as if they were one instrument. It can be said of many musicians and composers that underlying all that we do is the spirit of love – an abiding care and hope for the well-being of all humanity, in fact, all things living, all that is of this earth, and of the heavens. This is, Supreme Love.

Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair! In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be held inside the Arts Council’s Kristina Johnson Pop-Up Studio at the Princeton Shopping Center.

301 N. Harrison Street, Princeton NJ
Ample parking is available at the Princeton Shopping Center.
