A Celebration of Motown: Community Stage Event- Free and Open to the Public!
Lawrenceville, NJ recording artists The Beagles back other members of the Einstein Alley Musicians Collaborative performing selections from the Motown songbook. They share the story of the development, evolution and cultural impact of the record company’s sound, musical style, and subject matter before, during, and after the Detroit race riots of 1967 in a show commissioned by The McCarter Theatre Center to coincide with their 2018 production of Dominique Morrisseau’s Detroit ’67. The set list includes popular tunes originally recorded by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and more. Come out to sing and dance along to your favorite sounds of the 60s and 70s.
Program is free, but advance registration is recommended. Priority will be given to those who have registered in advance. Click here to RSVP via Eventbrite.
