Katie Welsh: And Then He Sang…Songs of Broadway’s Leading Men

Join singer Katie Welsh for an evening of songs originally written for leading men in Broadway musicals, including West Side Story, Pippin, On the Town, Company, My Fair Lady, She Loves Me, and more! Katie Welsh is a singer specializing in musical theater and the Great American Songbook and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Princeton University. Katie’s recent performances have included solo engagements at Feinstein’s/54 Below, Don’t Tell Mama, The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, the Metropolitan Room, BroadwayCon, and the Princeton Club of New York. Katie is also a researcher and writer on topics of musical theater and has given extensive interviews about her work to Everything Sondheim, Musical Theater Today, and others. Katie recently co-authored a chapter on musical theater reception theory with Stacy Wolf for The Routlege Companion to the Contemporary Musical. Visit and follow Katie @katiewelshmusic. Pianist David Pearl has performed in many of New York’s premiere venues (Joe’s Pub, Rainbow Room, Café Sabarsky, The Cutting Room, Symphony Space) and collaborates frequently with musicians in the jazz and classical community. He has been awarded grants from the New York State Council on the Arts to perform solo piano recitals, and his musical arrangements and transcriptions are published and performed regularly. He is the author of Piano Exercises For Dummies, The Art of Steely Dan, The Jazz Piano Collection, and The Art of Billy Strayhorn.
