“Listen Up!” Princeton Symphony Orchestra Exhibition Area Middle School Students

The Princeton Symphony Orchestra’s 2016 BRAVO! Listen Up! Exhibition features over 30 stunning works of visual art and writing created by area middle school students in response to Tsao Shu, an orchestral work by Music Alive: New Partnerships Composer-in-Residence Jing Jing Luo. Now in its ninth year, Listen Up! is an educational program which encourages creativity through active listening. To date, it has engaged over 210 middle school students.

COMMUNICATION BETWEEN FORMS

My work has been evolving recently to include more layers, more color and more depth. I’ve been continuing the push to step away from the usual process, which was: draw a shape and fill in the shape. Instead, I’ve been creating organic forms, activating the negative spaces, layering and mixing paints all while continuing to think as if the forms were communicating with each other.
