Creature Comforts? Annual Members Exhibition 2014
September 6 - September 30
Taplin Gallery | Ponder the complex relationships between humans and animals.
As humans, we have complicated relationships with animals. We love some, hate others. We celebrate being born in the year of the monkey or rat or snake, but sure don’t want to meet one in a dark alley. We keep Amazonian frogs as pets but won’t build a deck out of endangered rain forest timber. Our beloved dog Spot has his own car seat, breath mints, and Halloween costume but Elsie the cow gets served up for dinner. We have hunting seasons, petting zoos, rescue groups, fur coats, crocodile shoes and fakin’ bacon. It’s enough to make your head spin…but instead, members pondered these complex relationships, grabbed paintbrush or clay or camera, and submit their piece of artwork to the 2014 Arts Council of Princeton’s Annual Members Exhibtion.
