DESCRIPTION:Join the Arts Council for a community celebration in honor of Paul Robeson’s 128th Birthday. \nPresented in partnership with The Paul Robeson House of Princeton and the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity\, the celebration will bring together art\, history\, and community reflection to honor the enduring legacy of Robeson\, one of the most influential cultural and political figures of the 20th century. Born in Princeton in 1898\, Robeson achieved international acclaim not only for his artistic accomplishments\, but also for his unwavering commitment to civil rights and social justice. \nThe program will feature remarks and artistic tributes highlighting Robeson’s impact on the arts\, activism\, and the Princeton community. Reverend Gregory Smith and ACP Executive Director Adam Welch will be on site offering their books for purchase and signing. Through their respective works\, both authors explore themes of history\, identity\, and social justice that resonate deeply with Robeson’s enduring legacy. Attendees will also gather for a ceremonial wreath-laying at the Robeson bust outside our building. \nThis event is free and open to all ages.

DESCRIPTION:Princeton’s only roda de samba! \nWhat began as backyard jam sessions among friends has grown into a joyful community gathering. Samb’in Princeton is Princeton’s first roda de samba\, where musicians play around a shared table and everyone is invited to sing\, clap\, dance\, and celebrate together. \nJoin us at the Arts Council to experience the rhythm\, warmth\, and spirit of samba — no musical experience needed\, just bring your energy and enjoy! \n\nsave your space\n \nWe’ll be hosting a tasting of Brazilian sweets\, but please feel free to bring whatever food or drinks you’d like to enjoy throughout the evening. Any food and drinks\, alcoholic or non-alcoholic\, are more than welcome. We’ll have tables set up so everyone can get comfortably settled\, but rest assured: there will be plenty of space to hit the dance floor and samba the night away! \nVai rolar uma degustação de doces brasileiros\, mas fiquem à vontade para trazer o que quiserem para comer ou beber durante a noite. Comidas e bebidas (com ou sem álcool) são super bem-vindas! Teremos mesas para todo mundo se acomodar direitinho\, mas fiquem tranquilos: vai ter muito espaço para cair no samba.
