DESCRIPTION:Princeton Comic Makers presents: JERSEY ART MEETUPS (JAM)\, a weekly social event connecting creatives within the greater Central Jersey area through a shared passion for sequential art and new media.  Attendees may use this open workshop space to draw\, write\, and develop their own artwork\, with an opportunity to receive peer review and feedback from other members if desired. Illustrators\, animators\, writers\, and generalists are all welcome to join and discuss their art and career goals\, share learning resources\, promote current projects\, or find friends and collaborators. Together\, we aspire to cultivate a local community that keeps artists motivated towards achieving their dreams! \n\nOpen to ages 16+ of any skill level interested in any form of narrative art and design (i.e. Animation\, Concept Art\, Comics\, Game Design\, Picture Books\, etc.)\nGroup meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. Casual attendance is accepted!\nBringing own materials is highly encouraged. Some basic materials are provided – paper\, pencils\, etc. – but please bring any tools necessary to help you create (i.e. drawing tablets\, sketchbooks\, etc.)\n\nWho we are: Sponsored by artist and educator Ronah Harris\, Princeton Comic Makers is an artist collective founded in 2023 by local illustrators Christina Castro\, Suyang Gong\, and Masha Zhdanova after noticing a lack of in-person community spaces for NJ-based artists specializing in narrative arts and communications design. Although we create independently\, we often exhibit together at events such as MoCCA Fest\, Anime NYC\, and Camden Comic Con. Our weekly study group motivated us to strive towards completing projects and working towards professional goals\, so we hope more people can benefit from this club! \nChristina Castro is a freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who graduated from Pratt Institute (2018) with a BFA in Digital Arts (2D Animation) and a minor in Creative Writing. Past clients include Smashbits Animation\, gal-dem zine\, and Bad Robot. Christina also currently organizes and leads the production management of several indie charity zines\, collaborating with writers\, illustrators\, and musicians all around the world. Suyang Gong is a fine artist and illustrator who graduated from Rutgers (2021) with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has formerly worked as a teaching assistant at the Sharron Art Center for 3 years\, tutoring students in refining technical drawing skills. Suyang also specializes in traditional media\, often using materials like graphite\, ink\, and oil paint to create dynamic works. Masha Zhdanova is a freelance writer\, editor\, and illustrator who graduated from SCAD (2019) with a BFA in Sequential Art and recently completed her MFA in Cartooning at the Center for Cartoon Studies (2022). She was a teaching assistant for two Winter workshops at CCS and has taught comics classes for kids at the Princeton Public Library. Masha’s clients include Publisher’s Weekly\, Women Write About Comics\, and Polygon\, and she also currently edits content for The Anime Herald.

SUMMARY:Plein Air Paint Out at Princeton Battlefield
DESCRIPTION:Calling all artists — leave the four walls of the studio behind and experience the freedom of making art in a powerfully expansive setting. This plein-air painting opportunity is presented by the Arts Council in partnership with the Princeton Battlefield Society.  \nDuring this special Paint Out held in celebration of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding\, we invite artists of all skill levels to capture the grounds of the Princeton Battlefield State Park on their canvas.  \nJust minutes from downtown Princeton\, this historic battlefield allows you to walk in the footsteps of Washington\, Alexander Hamilton\, and General Hugh Mercer\, and explore the legacy of the Battle of Princeton.  \nIn addition to its sweeping grounds\, painters may be inspired by Battlefield landmarks:  \n\nBuilt in 1772\, the Thomas Clarke House is the only surviving structure from the Battle of Princeton. It stood at the center of the conflict and served as a field hospital where both American and British soldiers—including General Hugh Mercer—were treated for their wounds.\n\n\nThe Mercer Oak has long been a symbol of the Battle of Princeton\, standing near the spot where General Hugh Mercer was mortally wounded. Tradition holds that Mercer\, refusing to surrender\, was struck down near this tree\, becoming a hero of the Revolution. The tree collapsed from old age in March 2000. An offspring grown from an acorn of the Mercer Oak in 1981 now thrives next to the large stump of the original tree.\n\n\nStanding tall at the battlefield’s edge\, the Colonnade is a solemn tribute to the sacrifices made here. Originally part of a 19th-century mansion designed by architect Thomas Ustick Walter (who also designed the U.S. Capitol dome)\, the Colonnade was moved to its current location in 1956 as a memorial to fallen soldiers. \n\nThe artist with the piece deemed Best in Show will be awarded a solo exhibition in the Arts Council’s Siegal Gallery. First runner up will receive a cash prize of $100\, and second runner up will be awarded $50.  \nHow it works:  \n\nInterested artists should use this link to sign up for the Paint Out. A $25 registration fee supports our work to produce creative community programming. \n\n\nArtists are responsible for providing all set-up and supplies needed to create their piece.  \n\n\nArtists will work from 9am to 4pm before displaying their work in an open-air exhibition\, free and open to the public. Invite your friends and family to enjoy strolling from easel to easel. \n\n\nWorks may be available for sale. ACP will receive a 25% commission from any artwork sold. \n\n\nParticipants should dress comfortably and\, if necessary\, plan for weather by bringing sunscreen\, sun hats\, etc. Bring plenty of water and snacks\, if desired. \n\n\nIn the event of rain\, the Paint Out will be canceled. DESCRIPTION:The choir you didn’t know you needed.\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is an all-ages community singing experience where families\, neighbors\, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions\, no pressure\, just joy. \n\nKids and parents sing side-by-side\nAdults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again\nFirst-time singers get to experience the magic of choir\n\nSing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. \nRather than being divided by age or gender\, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice: Low\, Middle\, or High. \nFamilies sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony. \nThere will also be moments where singers can volunteer to sing a short line of the melody on their own. If you feel inspired\, just raise your hand when prompted and you can try the melody while the choir supports you. \n\nA screen-free singing experience:\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is intentionally phone-free and screen-free. Instead of staring at iPads or projectors\, everyone receives a simple lyric sheet and learns the music together by ear and by voice — the way humans have always sung. DESCRIPTION:Share your story\, your poetry\, or your prose\, based on the monthly theme!\nStory & Verse provides a warm and welcoming spotlight for both emerging and established artists in our Solley Theater\, an intimate space in the heart of Downtown Princeton. \nJoin us as a performer: \n\nPrepare a story\, poem\, or spoken word piece up to 5 minutes in length and (at least loosely) related to the theme. This month’s theme is “Breaking New Ground“\nArrive by 6:45pm to add your name to the hat. No previous experience or pre-registration necessary.\n\nJoin our audience: \n\nTake the elevator or stairs to the Solley Theater\, located on the top floor of our Paul Robeson Center for the Arts.\nOptional: participate from your seat with a Micro Story. Read the printed prompt based on the evening’s theme and respond with a super concise story (just a line or two!) that answers the question. Brass Rabbit will read your story at the mic\, as time allows.\nFind a seat and enjoy the performances. We kick off shortly after 7pm.\n\nQuestions? Shoot us an email. \n \nAbout our host:  \nBrass Rabbit is an artist\, contemporary curator\, and arts administrator based in Trenton\, New Jersey. Rabbit has been creating and hosting poetry\, spoken word\, and storytelling events in the tri-state area for over a decade. As a performer\, the art of storytelling holds a very special place in her heart\, but listening to and supporting others is where she feels most at home. \nHosting the Story & Verse Open Mic at the Arts Council of Princeton could be called a dream job\, but for Rabbit\, the position completely lacks any “work-like” qualities and is more of an outstanding experience she looks forward to each month. Previously\, Rabbit has hosted the Levitt Amp Music Series\, Voice to Ear Festival\, Word on Front Poetry Festival\, independent poetry and storytelling open mics\, and even curated an art exhibition celebrating the art of poetry.

Our weekly study group motivated us to strive towards completing projects and working towards professional goals\, so we hope more people can benefit from this club! \nChristina Castro is a freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who graduated from Pratt Institute (2018) with a BFA in Digital Arts (2D Animation) and a minor in Creative Writing. Past clients include Smashbits Animation\, gal-dem zine\, and Bad Robot. Christina also currently organizes and leads the production management of several indie charity zines\, collaborating with writers\, illustrators\, and musicians all around the world. Suyang Gong is a fine artist and illustrator who graduated from Rutgers (2021) with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has formerly worked as a teaching assistant at the Sharron Art Center for 3 years\, tutoring students in refining technical drawing skills. Suyang also specializes in traditional media\, often using materials like graphite\, ink\, and oil paint to create dynamic works. Masha Zhdanova is a freelance writer\, editor\, and illustrator who graduated from SCAD (2019) with a BFA in Sequential Art and recently completed her MFA in Cartooning at the Center for Cartoon Studies (2022). She was a teaching assistant for two Winter workshops at CCS and has taught comics classes for kids at the Princeton Public Library. Masha’s clients include Publisher’s Weekly\, Women Write About Comics\, and Polygon\, and she also currently edits content for The Anime Herald.

SUMMARY:Princeton Yoga Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Princeton Yoga Fest brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the unifying power of yoga. \nOur third-annual event offers a powerful lineup of classes\, vendors\, and the much-anticipated return of the Silent Disco Flow. This celebration of movement\, mindfulness\, and community is held in partnership with lululemon. \nThe morning session is held on Hinds Plaza\, a public square located outside the Princeton Public Library. The later classes\, as well as the Mindfulness Market\, are held at the Arts Council of Princeton at 102 Witherspoon Street\, Princeton. \n10am-11am: Community Yoga on Hinds Plaza (free) led by instructors Jen Stewart of Yoga Mechanics\, Montclair\, and Anne Bambino of Empower Yoga\, Ewing. This family-friendly practice will be offered outdoors on Hinds Plaza\, located next to the Princeton Public Library. \n11am-4pm: Explore our Mindfulness Market\, a one-stop shop for vendors working in self-care\, beauty\, wellness\, accessories\, and food and beverage. This market is free to attend and open to the public. \n3-4pm: Bring the gang for Family Yoga ($10). This gentle\, beginner-friendly class is great for all ages and abilities with inclusion for individuals with special needs and/or physical\, intellectual\, and developmental disabilities. \nPreceding the rest of the yoga schedule are two add-on workshop opportunities available to Yoga Fest attendees: \n\n\n\nMosaic Workshop: Enjoy a hands-on experience creating intricate Turkish mosaic patterns with vibrant colors\, inspired by international artistry. $35 per participant; online registration required.\nBody Butter Workshop with Kaya Selfcare: Learn how to make your new “everything” product – one rich\, luxurious butter that works for your whole body. In this hands-on workshop\, we’ll walk through every step of crafting a multi-use body butter using safe\, effective\, skin-loving ingredients. You’ll learn what goes in\, why it works\, and how to make it yourself at home. Leave with your own jar and the knowledge to keep making it. $25 per participant; online registration required.\n\n\n\n\n4:30-6pm: The grand finale — at the Silent Disco Flow ($65)\, music transmitted through wireless headphones allows for a unique and personalized experience. Attendees of this class will receive an Everywhere Belt Bag from lululemon\, valued at $38. The first fifty registrants will receive an Essential Face Oil\, valued at $128.
