DESCRIPTION:Tales from the Disenchanted Forest\nBy Artists: Elizabeth Jordan & Terri Fraser\nOn view: May 2 – 30\nOpening: Sat\, May 9 | 3-5pm\n\nExhibition Statement: \nThis two-person exhibition reveals the intricate connections between two distinct approaches\nto sculpture\, each reflecting the multifaceted relationship between humans and the natural\nworld. These connections oscillate between tension and reverence\, embodying humanity’s\napathy toward preservation at one moment\, while celebrating a deep respect for all living\nbeings the next. \nTerri Fraser and Elizabeth Jordan both channel nature’s influence into complex\, evocative\nforms. Despite their divergent styles\, their work shares a common thread: the materials\nthey use convey rich\, layered narratives that lead to vastly different\, yet complementary\noutcomes. \nTerri Fraser’s sculptures are crafted from a variety of materials—delicate lengths of wire\,\nfound natural ephemera\, translucent papers\, and animal guts. These elements are woven and\nintertwined into ethereal forms that evoke nature without directly imitating it. Abstract yet\npulsing with energy and humanity\, her pieces hum with a quiet vibrancy that invites deep\ncontemplation. \nElizabeth Jordan’s sculptures\, by contrast\, are more species-oriented and narrative-driven.\nBuilt from layers of wire\, wood\, plaster\, and paint\, her works evolve into forms that straddle\nthe boundary between animal and human. Each figure’s gesture and personality engage in\nan implicit dialogue with the viewer. Though their forms may appear stark\, they challenge\nconventional notions of beauty\, embodying the difficult journey of creatures navigating the\nhuman world. \nWhile Fraser’s abstract and enigmatic forms invite quiet introspection\, Jordan’s narrative\nsculptures evoke a more immediate emotional response. Together\, these works explore the\nspectrum of human interaction with\, disruption of\, and interpretation of the natural world\,\noffering a nuanced view of the ongoing conversation between humanity and nature. \nThis presentation will feature a selection of existing works from both artists\, showcasing how\ntheir chosen materials manifest their ideas. The artists also intend to create site-specific\ninstallations that blend new works with existing pieces\, many of which will be created in\n2025. Fraser is developing a series of tree sculptures that will transform the gallery into\na forest-like environment\, inviting visitors to wander through and around the installation.\nJordan’s animal sculptures will be nestled throughout this fabricated forest\, encouraging the\nviewer to explore the storytelling inherent in the combined works. \n“Tales from the Disenchanted Forest” will craft an immersive world that provokes reflection\non our relationship with nature\, humanity’s impact\, and the inevitable presence of death. This\ninstallation invites visitors to roam the meditative woods\, discovering unexpected encounters\nand moments of introspection as they journey through the space.

SUMMARY:Sounds of Color
DESCRIPTION:Sounds of Color\nBy artist Aida\nOn view: May 2 – 30\nOpening: Sat\, May 9 | 3-5pm\nArtist Statement:\nColor is a human experience and goes beyond what the eye can see. It connects directly to what the soul sees. When the soul sees\, it deeply feels the beauty before it. Color is a perceived reality. It has rhythm and wavelength. It can be harmonious or discordant. It has a voice. It changes desire and emotion like a musical composition. I work mindfully and abstractly\, with line and color boldness\, using gouache\, watercolor and acrylic to reveal another journey of modern color application \nI have exhibited in numerous regional\, national and international juried shows throughout the US and Tri-State area of NY\, NJ and PA. In 2024\, I exhibited in a juried National Works on Paper exhibition held at Long Beach Island Foundation of Art and Science\, as well as the WASH-H 47th International Watermedia Exhibition held in Houston\, Texas\, receiving a merit award. In September of 2025\, I took part in an artist’s residency located in Beaumont de Pertuis\, in Provence.

DESCRIPTION:Color as Composition\nBy Phoebe Wiley\nOn view: May 2 – 30\nOpening: Sat\, May 9 | 3-5pm\n\nExhibition statement:\nStudies in how juxtaposed colors relate\, contrast to one another to come forward\, recede\, move around\, create rhythm emotion\, intensity\, and form. \nAbout the artist:\nI was overwhelmed this morning by the RED dahlias in my garden. The story of my life! Since childhood the observation of color in nature has overtaken my senses and compelled me to think\nabout it and recreate it. This intensity of feeling has led me to a very long life as a painter. For many years I worked as an impressionist painter observing the play of light and color in still lives and landscapes\, analyzing how to use gestural marks of color to describe objects in the picture. I recently learned to let go of all figuration to concentrate on the color itself to create the composition.\nWebsite

DESCRIPTION:The choir you didn’t know you needed.\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is an all-ages community singing experience where families\, neighbors\, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions\, no pressure\, just joy. \n\nKids and parents sing side-by-side\nAdults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again\nFirst-time singers get to experience the magic of choir\n\nSing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. \nRather than being divided by age or gender\, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice: Low\, Middle\, or High. \nFamilies sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony. \nThere will also be moments where singers can volunteer to sing a short line of the melody on their own. If you feel inspired\, just raise your hand when prompted and you can try the melody while the choir supports you. \n\nA screen-free singing experience:\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is intentionally phone-free and screen-free. Instead of staring at iPads or projectors\, everyone receives a simple lyric sheet and learns the music together by ear and by voice — the way humans have always sung. SUMMARY:Jersey Art Meetup (JAM)
DESCRIPTION:Princeton Comic Makers presents: JERSEY ART MEETUPS (JAM)\, a weekly social event connecting creatives within the greater Central Jersey area through a shared passion for sequential art and new media.  Attendees may use this open workshop space to draw\, write\, and develop their own artwork\, with an opportunity to receive peer review and feedback from other members if desired. Illustrators\, animators\, writers\, and generalists are all welcome to join and discuss their art and career goals\, share learning resources\, promote current projects\, or find friends and collaborators. Together\, we aspire to cultivate a local community that keeps artists motivated towards achieving their dreams! \n\nOpen to ages 16+ of any skill level interested in any form of narrative art and design (i.e. Animation\, Concept Art\, Comics\, Game Design\, Picture Books\, etc.)\nGroup meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. Casual attendance is accepted!\nBringing own materials is highly encouraged. Some basic materials are provided – paper\, pencils\, etc. – but please bring any tools necessary to help you create (i.e. drawing tablets\, sketchbooks\, etc.)\n\nWho we are: Sponsored by artist and educator Ronah Harris\, Princeton Comic Makers is an artist collective founded in 2023 by local illustrators Christina Castro\, Suyang Gong\, and Masha Zhdanova after noticing a lack of in-person community spaces for NJ-based artists specializing in narrative arts and communications design. Although we create independently\, we often exhibit together at events such as MoCCA Fest\, Anime NYC\, and Camden Comic Con. Our weekly study group motivated us to strive towards completing projects and working towards professional goals\, so we hope more people can benefit from this club! \nChristina Castro is a freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who graduated from Pratt Institute (2018) with a BFA in Digital Arts (2D Animation) and a minor in Creative Writing. Past clients include Smashbits Animation\, gal-dem zine\, and Bad Robot. Christina also currently organizes and leads the production management of several indie charity zines\, collaborating with writers\, illustrators\, and musicians all around the world. Suyang Gong is a fine artist and illustrator who graduated from Rutgers (2021) with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has formerly worked as a teaching assistant at the Sharron Art Center for 3 years\, tutoring students in refining technical drawing skills. Suyang also specializes in traditional media\, often using materials like graphite\, ink\, and oil paint to create dynamic works. Masha Zhdanova is a freelance writer\, editor\, and illustrator who graduated from SCAD (2019) with a BFA in Sequential Art and recently completed her MFA in Cartooning at the Center for Cartoon Studies (2022). She was a teaching assistant for two Winter workshops at CCS and has taught comics classes for kids at the Princeton Public Library. Masha’s clients include Publisher’s Weekly\, Women Write About Comics\, and Polygon\, and she also currently edits content for The Anime Herald.
