SUMMARY:Jersey Art Meetup (JAM)
DESCRIPTION:A community collaboration showcasing art about the past\, present\, and future of the nationExperience a powerful night of art in Princeton with the Re-visioning America initiative. Inspired by the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence\, Re-visioning America invites contemplation of the past\, present\, and possible futures of the American nation through the lens of art. Drop in for open houses at the Princeton University Art Museum\, Art@Bainbridge\, the Arts Council of Princeton\, Princeton Public Library\, and Morven Museum & Garden. Enjoy art-making activities and speak with curators about the works on view. And don’t forget to walk by Dohm Alley to view the Historical Society of Princeton’s exhibition and the Spring Street mural organized by the Arts Council of Princeton. This event is free and open to the public\, including a Make + Take Card-Making Workshop with the Princeton Sankofa Stitchers. Attendees can use scraps of fabric to create a design on cardstock using glue and scissors. Take inspiration from the beautiful works on display or dive right in with your own artistic vision. Open to participants of all ages from elementary school through adulthood with no registration required — feel free to drop in. To learn more about all the guild members\, please check out their website. This project is supported in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. \n \n Thank you to our sponsors: \n \n MUSE: \n \n TIMOTHY M. Re-visioning America showcases how artists from a range of backgrounds grapple with the complexity of America and its histories\, then and now\, and invites audiences to do the same through a series of exhibitions and accompanying programming\, including lectures\, artist conversations\, hands-on workshops\, film screenings\, and a gallery crawl.
