From 1959 -1981 he was represented by the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York City. Tom was a resident of Princeton\, N.J. and used the local scenery of Marquand Park and the Institute for Advanced Studies as inspiration for tree and garden studies. However\, always seeking new inspiration for his work\, he travelled extensively with his family throughout Europe and the Far East. He found particular inspiration in the dramatic landscapes of Japan\, China and\, especially\, Norway\, where he maintained a home and worked every summer for over 30 years. Thomas George was a prolific and successful artist and his popular local shows included the Princeton University Art Museum (2005) and the Arts Council of Princeton (2011) before he passed away in 2014. Tom is survived by his sons\, John and Geoff George\, who own a large collection of his works including wood cuts\, prints\, oils\, drawings\, pastels and watercolors. There will truly be something for everyone at this limited sale\, so don’t miss your opportunity to own and cherish a Thomas George original.
