Drop in to a free, hour-long watercolor session with ACP teaching artist Hema Bharadwaj.
Let’s paint beach crowds! Summery days are coming and it might be fun to sit on warm sands under a cool umbrella with a paint box. Here is one way I tackle complex shapes and get the crowd vibe without painting all those hands and legs (LOL!) These inspiration paintings are from an early beach series and are sold — let’s use them as a point of inspiration for this year’s beach weather paintings.
Materials:
- For this image, you can use Canson paper (I use cheap paper when I’m painting fast and messy on the beach)
- Use all your colors! You can use your Buff Titanium for the sand or try some watered down burnt sienna with permanent rose.
- Paper towels
- Water jars
- A variety of brushes is great but mostly a few rounds will do
- White gouache for mixing highlights
- Lots of mixing space in your palette
- Optional: water spray bottle for creating drama
This virtual opportunity is open to all skill levels, whether you’re a returning student of Hema’s or a true beginner!
Interested in the medium but not ready to dive in? You’re more than welcome to attend and observe, get to know Hema, and plan for future watercolor exploration.
