Opening Reception: Saturday, January 7 | 3-5pm
From the classical images of the 1500s to the frenzied interpretations of De Kooning in the 1960’s – and continuing today – the female figure has engaged and challenged artists of all levels.
Long accepted as the personification of beauty and birth, the feminine figure has also been depicted as mysterious and both strong and vulnerable by artists of both genders.
This Lower Level gallery exhibition, comprised of works by Charles David Viera, explores the expressionist and abstract possibilities of the female figure.
