DESCRIPTION:Princeton Comic Makers presents: JERSEY ART MEETUPS (JAM)\, a weekly social event connecting creatives within the greater Central Jersey area through a shared passion for sequential art and new media.  Attendees may use this open workshop space to draw\, write\, and develop their own artwork\, with an opportunity to receive peer review and feedback from other members if desired. Illustrators\, animators\, writers\, and generalists are all welcome to join and discuss their art and career goals\, share learning resources\, promote current projects\, or find friends and collaborators. Together\, we aspire to cultivate a local community that keeps artists motivated towards achieving their dreams! \n\nOpen to ages 16+ of any skill level interested in any form of narrative art and design (i.e. Animation\, Concept Art\, Comics\, Game Design\, Picture Books\, etc.)\nGroup meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. Casual attendance is accepted!\nBringing own materials is highly encouraged. Some basic materials are provided – paper\, pencils\, etc. – but please bring any tools necessary to help you create (i.e. drawing tablets\, sketchbooks\, etc.)\n\nWho we are: Sponsored by artist and educator Ronah Harris\, Princeton Comic Makers is an artist collective founded in 2023 by local illustrators Christina Castro\, Suyang Gong\, and Masha Zhdanova after noticing a lack of in-person community spaces for NJ-based artists specializing in narrative arts and communications design. Although we create independently\, we often exhibit together at events such as MoCCA Fest\, Anime NYC\, and Camden Comic Con. Our weekly study group motivated us to strive towards completing projects and working towards professional goals\, so we hope more people can benefit from this club! \nChristina Castro is a freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who graduated from Pratt Institute (2018) with a BFA in Digital Arts (2D Animation) and a minor in Creative Writing. Past clients include Smashbits Animation\, gal-dem zine\, and Bad Robot. Christina also currently organizes and leads the production management of several indie charity zines\, collaborating with writers\, illustrators\, and musicians all around the world. Suyang Gong is a fine artist and illustrator who graduated from Rutgers (2021) with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has formerly worked as a teaching assistant at the Sharron Art Center for 3 years\, tutoring students in refining technical drawing skills. Suyang also specializes in traditional media\, often using materials like graphite\, ink\, and oil paint to create dynamic works. Masha Zhdanova is a freelance writer\, editor\, and illustrator who graduated from SCAD (2019) with a BFA in Sequential Art and recently completed her MFA in Cartooning at the Center for Cartoon Studies (2022). She was a teaching assistant for two Winter workshops at CCS and has taught comics classes for kids at the Princeton Public Library. Masha’s clients include Publisher’s Weekly\, Women Write About Comics\, and Polygon\, and she also currently edits content for The Anime Herald.

Carlos Sumba\, owner of Q’ero Restaurant\, will lead a live ceviche demonstration while sharing the history and regional traditions behind Peru’s iconic dish. Guests will enjoy tastings of ceviche along with a selection of traditional Peruvian bites throughout the afternoon. Known as one of the world’s great culinary destinations\, Peru’s cuisine blends Indigenous\, Spanish\, African\, Chinese\, and Japanese influences into a vibrant and globally celebrated food culture. The afternoon will also feature Taxheira of Queirolo serving Pisco Sours\, Peru’s beloved cocktail\, accompanied by stories and historical insights into the drink’s origins and cultural significance. DESCRIPTION:The choir you didn’t know you needed.\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is an all-ages community singing experience where families\, neighbors\, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions\, no pressure\, just joy. \n\nKids and parents sing side-by-side\nAdults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again\nFirst-time singers get to experience the magic of choir\n\nSing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. \nRather than being divided by age or gender\, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice: Low\, Middle\, or High. \nFamilies sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony. \nThere will also be moments where singers can volunteer to sing a short line of the melody on their own. If you feel inspired\, just raise your hand when prompted and you can try the melody while the choir supports you. \nTheme – “Earth\, Wind & Fire Medley”\n• “Let’s Groove Tonight”\n• “Shining Star”\n• “September” \n\nA screen-free singing experience:\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is intentionally phone-free and screen-free. DESCRIPTION:The choir you didn’t know you needed.\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is an all-ages community singing experience where families\, neighbors\, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions\, no pressure\, just joy. \n\nKids and parents sing side-by-side\nAdults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again\nFirst-time singers get to experience the magic of choir\n\nSing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. \nRather than being divided by age or gender\, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice: Low\, Middle\, or High. \nFamilies sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony. \nThere will also be moments where singers can volunteer to sing a short line of the melody on their own. Young Jr.On View in our Siegal Gallery: August 4 – August 29\, 2026Opening reception during the August 5 Witherspoon-Jackson Community Princeton Safe Streets event from 5-7pm\nAbout the artists \nAaron Fisher:Princeton\, NJ is where it all began….. My mother says from the time I could hold a crayon\, I was drawing.  Artistic expression comes naturally.  Early influence came from my sister Pat\, who too is an artist\, and she encouraged me to hone my gift.  I attended Middlesex County College\, majoring in Marketing\, Art and Design.  I am currently the Visual Arts mentor for the New Brunswick area branch of ACT-SO (Afro- Academic\, Cultural\, Technological and Scientific Olympics)\, which is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit\, stimulate and encourage high academic and cultural achievement amongst African-American high school students.Working on canvas and wood\, utilizing acrylic paint\, inks and colored pencil\, I focus on the human face layering the various colors to recreate expression\, character and life.  Details matter and with all my pieces\, I carefully attempt to recreate the details that make each face unique.  I have never encountered a dull subject and inspiration is readily available.  I work fervently to create works that express my admiration for the subject matter and in doing so\, I am hopeful that the gazer notices the details but also\, feels…I currently reside in Franklin Park\, NJ with Angela\, my beautiful wife of 30+ years and our daughter\, Kylie. \nFreddie A. Young Jr.: \nI am who I am. Not out of arrogance\, but out of return.In harmony with a plan already good\, already written before I showed up to live it.I came from clay\, and one day I’ll return to soil. This body is borrowed. This life is one long season of making memory\, before the memory is all that’s left. My Story is that memory\, held still long enough to look at.My camera is my eye. I capture people through real relationships\, conversations\, time spent\, genuine interaction… All because that’s where intimacy lives. I photograph people in their environment: whatever surrounds them that has shaped who they are. Their vibration. This has brought me into frame with athletes\, poets\, authors\, lifelong friends and most importantly\, the people I meet and choose to honor\, professionally and beautifully.This work is an extension of memory. It’s how I document what I’ve lived. The audience is whoever cares to see the world through my eyes. Alhamdulillah. One Love.

Illustrators\, animators\, writers\, and generalists are all welcome to join and discuss their art and career goals\, share learning resources\, promote current projects\, or find friends and collaborators. Together\, we aspire to cultivate a local community that keeps artists motivated towards achieving their dreams! \n\nOpen to ages 16+ of any skill level interested in any form of narrative art and design (i.e. Animation\, Concept Art\, Comics\, Game Design\, Picture Books\, etc.)\nGroup meets weekly on Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm. Casual attendance is accepted!\nBringing own materials is highly encouraged. Although we create independently\, we often exhibit together at events such as MoCCA Fest\, Anime NYC\, and Camden Comic Con. Our weekly study group motivated us to strive towards completing projects and working towards professional goals\, so we hope more people can benefit from this club! \nChristina Castro is a freelance illustrator and storyboard artist who graduated from Pratt Institute (2018) with a BFA in Digital Arts (2D Animation) and a minor in Creative Writing. Past clients include Smashbits Animation\, gal-dem zine\, and Bad Robot. Christina also currently organizes and leads the production management of several indie charity zines\, collaborating with writers\, illustrators\, and musicians all around the world. Suyang Gong is a fine artist and illustrator who graduated from Rutgers (2021) with a BFA in Fine Arts. She has formerly worked as a teaching assistant at the Sharron Art Center for 3 years\, tutoring students in refining technical drawing skills. Suyang also specializes in traditional media\, often using materials like graphite\, ink\, and oil paint to create dynamic works. Masha Zhdanova is a freelance writer\, editor\, and illustrator who graduated from SCAD (2019) with a BFA in Sequential Art and recently completed her MFA in Cartooning at the Center for Cartoon Studies (2022). She was a teaching assistant for two Winter workshops at CCS and has taught comics classes for kids at the Princeton Public Library. Masha’s clients include Publisher’s Weekly\, Women Write About Comics\, and Polygon\, and she also currently edits content for The Anime Herald.

DESCRIPTION:The choir you didn’t know you needed.\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is an all-ages community singing experience where families\, neighbors\, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions\, no pressure\, just joy. \n\nKids and parents sing side-by-side\nAdults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again\nFirst-time singers get to experience the magic of choir\n\nSing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. \nRather than being divided by age or gender\, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice: Low\, Middle\, or High. \nFamilies sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony. \nThere will also be moments where singers can volunteer to sing a short line of the melody on their own. If you feel inspired\, just raise your hand when prompted and you can try the melody while the choir supports you. \n\nA screen-free singing experience:\n\nPop-Up Choir Princeton is intentionally phone-free and screen-free. Instead of staring at iPads or projectors\, everyone receives a simple lyric sheet and learns the music together by ear and by voice — the way humans have always sung. SUMMARY:Princeton Yoga Fest 2026
DESCRIPTION:Princeton Yoga Fest brings together people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the unifying power of yoga. \nOur third-annual event offers a powerful lineup of classes\, vendors\, and the much-anticipated return of the Silent Disco Flow. This celebration of movement\, mindfulness\, and community is held in partnership with lululemon. \nThe morning session is held on Hinds Plaza\, a public square located outside the Princeton Public Library. The later classes\, as well as the Mindfulness Market\, are held at the Arts Council of Princeton at 102 Witherspoon Street\, Princeton. \n10am-11am: Community Yoga on Hinds Plaza (free) led by instructors Jen Stewart of Yoga Mechanics\, Montclair\, and Anne Bambino of Empower Yoga\, Ewing. This family-friendly practice will be offered outdoors on Hinds Plaza\, located next to the Princeton Public Library. \n11am-4pm: Explore our Mindfulness Market\, a one-stop shop for vendors working in self-care\, beauty\, wellness\, accessories\, and food and beverage. This market is free to attend and open to the public. \n3-4pm: Bring the gang for Family Yoga ($10). This gentle\, beginner-friendly class is great for all ages and abilities with inclusion for individuals with special needs and/or physical\, intellectual\, and developmental disabilities. \n4:30-6pm: The grand finale — at the Silent Disco Flow ($65)\, music transmitted through wireless headphones allows for a unique and personalized experience. Attendees of this class will receive an Everywhere Belt Bag from lululemon\, valued at $38. The first fifty registrants will receive an Essential Face Oil\, valued at $128. Intricate patterns radiate from the center\, representing unity and cosmic order. With its vibrant colors and sacred geometry\, the mandala invites viewers into a meditative space\, offering a visual journey toward inner peace\, spiritual awakening\, and universal energy. \nAbout the artist:\nAnamika Sinha is a self-taught artist whose creative journey began in childhood. Growing up\, she was naturally drawn to art\, exploring drawing and expression at an early age. Although she did not have access to formal training due to location constraints\, her father played an important role in nurturing her interest and guiding her first steps in art. \nAs life progressed\, academic priorities took over and art slowly faded into the background. For nearly two decades\, she was completely away from creative practice\, focusing instead on studies\, career responsibilities\, marriage\, and raising a family. Amid the busy and demanding years of raising three boys\, she felt the need to reconnect with something personal and fulfilling. \nIn 2022\, she returned to art\, picking up from where she had left off many years ago. Since then\, there has been no looking back. Her artistic journey has become a space of rediscovery\, growth\, and healing. With every artwork\, she continues to learn\, improve\, and evolve her style. \nShe is especially drawn to detailed work\, whether it is human portraits\, animal studies\, or intricate mandala art. Mandalas\, in particular\, feel meditative and grounding for her\, while portraits allow her to capture emotion and expression. Her work reflects patience\, depth\, and a strong emotional connection to her subjects\, marking a powerful return to her lifelong passion. \nArtist statement:\nI started my artistic journey in 2022\, and since then I have been learning and exploring different styles of art. I am still growing as an artist and discovering my own voice through practice and observation. \nI enjoy creating detailed artwork\, as I love focusing on small elements that bring life to a piece. Mandala art is very special to me because it feels meditative and calming. When I create mandalas\, I feel peaceful and fully present in the moment. \nAlong with mandalas\, I also enjoy making portraits of people and animals. Through portraits\, I try to capture emotions\, expressions\, and the quiet stories behind each subject. \nMy work is a journey of learning\, patience\, and exploration\, where I express both detail and emotion in different ways. \nInstagram
