Write/Draw: Halloween [tween]

- $55

Doors creek, branches scrape against the window, and somewhere down the hallway shadows creep along in the dark. Halloween’s nearly here, and what better time is there to celebrate the world of suspense and horror? Through a series of interactive workshops, students will create their very own illustrated Halloween stories. They will start their journey exploring how lighting, color, and composition help to create a mysterious atmosphere, then move on to the compelling narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Class ends with a spooky story session in which students can share their own personalized haunted creations!

Interwoven Stories

Extended Thanksgiving Gallery Hours:
Friday, 11/25 – 10am-4pm
Saturday, 11/26 – 10am-3pm

Interwoven Stories is a community-based narrative stitching project created and facilitated by Diana Weymar, the Arts Council’s 2016 Artist-in-Residence. More than 100 3-hole fabric pages, stitched with memories, places, and people, will be assembled together for this one time group show.

“It is the nature of socially engaged art to present a project to a community while not knowing how it will be received or executed. It is an open question. The response to this project has exceeded our wildest expectations. Beyond the additional of a final show of all the fabric pages and a catalog book, each page is a gift to the community. They speak to the generosity, diversity, spirit, commitment and creativity of this community.”
-Diana Weymar, Interwoven Stories creator and curator

View the Interwoven Stories exhibition, on view from 10/29 through 11/30, and let the pages speak for themselves. They are, quite simply, works of art that speak to the soul.
