Princeton Community Pride Picnic

June 3 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Celebrate Princeton’s LGBTQIA+ community with music, art, activities and neighborhood nonprofits at the third annual edition of this family-friendly event.

Kick off Pride Month with the Princeton community on the green space of Palmer Square as we gather to celebrate inclusivity, tolerance and acceptance at a joyful family-friendly event.  Enjoy live music featuring Sarah Donner and School of Rock Princeton, learn to be a “hoop star” with Angela from Color Me Hoopy, participate in creating a collaborative community art project, take part in a variety of activities and go home with fun giveaways.

Families are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy on the grass or to purchase a lunch from one of the many food establishments on Palmer Square.

Mayor Mark Freda along with other local dignitaries will be in attendance and local nonprofits will have tables with activities and information for attendees.

This free event is a community collaboration coordinated by the Princeton Public Library with community partners from McCarter Theatre Center, HiTOPS, YWCA PrincetonArts Council of Princeton, Princeton Civil Rights Commission, and Princeton Human Services.

Also attending are: Princeton Senior Resource Center, Princeton Middle School SAGA, I Support the Girls, Corner House, Trinity Counseling Service, Princeton Festival, PREA, Planned Parenthood Action Fund of NJ, Inspired Threads, Princeton University Concerts, Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, Nassau Presbyterian Church, PFLAG Princeton, Hyacinth Foundation  and RWJBH Babs Siperstein PROUD Center.

Musical Minds: 9 mo – 2 years

May 8 @ 10:00 am - 10:30 am

Caretaker and child class to introduce music in a fun and engaging atmosphere. We do this through sing-alongs, light musical theory instruction, dance, and games.

Music helps behavioral and emotional health, literacy and children do better overall in school. While there are many benefits for learning music young, it’s also a fun and exciting activity that parent/caregiver and child can enjoy together!

Students 9 months – 2 years and their caretakers will experience lively sing-alongs, a gentle introduction to musical theory, have fun dance sessions, and learn through interactive games. This is a great way for caretakers to bond, socialize with other parents and introduce music to their little ones!

This half-hour session is held in partnership with Stibol Music and is recommended for toddlers of 9 mo – 2 years. Please note there is a session for children 3-5 years of age immediately following.

Register in advance for 6-class course: $120
Drop-in and pay in-person: $25
