Join us for a free community celebration of Filipino culture!
Bayanihan (BUY-UH-NEE-HUN) is a core Filipino cultural value that represents communal unity, cooperation, and collective efforts towards a common goal. It is the Filipino spirit of working as one, traditionally associated with the act of neighbors physically moving a Filipino home — the “bahay kubo” — to a new location. Over time, Bayanihan continues to be a vital source of strength and support for Filipino communities in the home country and abroad. One need not be a Filipino to give or to receive it. For those of us who have made new homes in various places in the globe, we might not have carried the symbolic Nipa hut, but we carried in our hearts the Bayanihan Spirit.
