Join us for a sensory expedition into the world of exquisite handmade printing and embroidery techniques of India. Dr. MrittikaSen, artisan of Earth-Strings Jewelry and a weave enthusiast, takes you into the workshops and stories of Batik and Knatha artists of Kolkata, her hometown in India. You will hear underprivileged women of a nonprofit talk about the transformative process of creating works of art and becoming financially independent. The exposition will showcase Mrittika’s curated collection of silk scarves, mul cotton fabrics, and sling bags, and the jewelry their colors and textures inspired her to create.
