About the Charles Evans Scholarship
In 2011, the Charles Evans Foundation endowed the Arts Council of Princeton with a scholarship fund to support exceptional students within the arts. The Arts Council partners with Princeton High School Art instructors to select and recognize high school students each year for their artistic achievements. Many Evans Scholars continue their artistic interests in college and practice life long learning and appreciation for the arts.
The late businessman Charles Evans founded the Evan-Picone fashion house and the Evans Partnership commercial real estate firm. His philanthropic efforts benefitted the Alzheimer’s Association and the Crusade for Fire Detection, a lobbying and educational fire safety organization. Additionally, Evans produced the Oscar Award-winning movie Tootsie. The Charles Evans Foundation was established in his memory.
Linda Munson, President of the Foundation, explains, “Charles believed in empowering talent – through education, mentoring and training.”
The Arts Council is proud to partner with the Charles Evans Foundation and Princeton High School in support of our local emerging artists.
