The Arts Council of Princeton’s Education Manager is a full-time position. We are looking for a dynamic and organized leader in a fast-paced energetic and growing community art center. This position requires a self-starter who can lead a team of two at the center of cultural placemaking. The Education Manager reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for management, coordination and oversight of the education and outreach program and the direct supervision of the full-time Education Associate.
The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) is non-profit community art organization that fulfills its mission by presenting a wide range of inclusive and accessible arts and arts education programs. Offerings include classes, camps, and workshops in visual, performing, and media arts as well as exhibitions, public art projects, performances, and free community cultural events.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing classes, camps and workshop programs through preparation of class descriptions, photos and other documentation for programs to be posted on the ACP website;
- Track financial aspects of the class and camp programming, including instructor pay, materials costs, and income
- Oversee Registrations – online, paper, phone and change requests, answering emails, and inputting registration information into Art Center Canvas, including scholarships & adapted arts classes;
- Responsible for opening and closing facility as needed, including evenings and weekends;
- Assist with the preparation of marketing and press materials for use in brochures, press releases, on website and for other publicity efforts, in cooperation with ACP staff, providing classes to promote to the weekly e-blast;
- Work with local organizations in partnership for classes, art clubs and workshops, including the Princeton Adult School, Morven Museum, Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Preserve, Eden Autism, Riverside School, Princeton University, Princeton YMCA
- Managing class surveys and checking in with instructors on their performance when necessary
- Provide clerical support for class enrollment; customer service for class registration and other programs as needed;
- Correspondence with parents/students when needed;
- Help manage the Front of House (front desk): making sure the front desk is staffed, presentable, the phone is in order, ready and presentable for visitors and students to the building, and that the front desk has rosters for check in. This may include being the front desk staff at times.
- Supervising volunteers and interns working in education and outreach program areas;
- Manage class & camp operations as needed;
- Delegate the set up and tidy studios as needed;
- Provide general staffing assistance for events and programs as assigned;
- Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director
- Work with Accounting Manager to develop department budgets and tracking. Including managing payments to instructors.
Skills, Experience, Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Five+ year’s experience in non-profit education or programming
- Ability to implement and/or oversee large-scale events
- Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to “get out there” and proactively build strategic, productive, and lasting relationships with community members, artists, and potential partners
- Ability to craft and deliver a compelling story that creates a connection and elicits meaningful engagement with the organization
- Ability to demonstrate perseverance, shift strategies, and deliver results in face of challenges or unexpected occurrences
- A passion for the arts and a love of community
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- A proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort working with relevant tools and technology
Staff Leadership:
- Supervise the Education Associate and co-supervise the 3 part-time front desk staff.
