Meet Prajakta Joshi: Local artist + ACP member
Tell us about yourself and your art!
I was born in Mumbai, India, and moved to Dubai when I was three. Growing up in Dubai was like living in a vibrant melting pot of cultures, ideas, and traditions. Those experiences shaped the way I see the world. After school, I moved back to India to pursue a BFA in Design and Visual Communication, which is where my love for branding and design really took off. My career started with airbrushing bold, colorful ads for magazines—each project felt like an exciting challenge, pushing me to grow creatively.
Eventually, I moved back to Dubai, where I joined a British design house that helped me apply and grow my design and branding skills. A few years later, life led me to New Jersey, and I started working in New York City. Fast forward a bit, and I decided to take the leap and open my own design agency, something I have always dreamed of.
Then came the pandemic, and everything shifted. With more time at home, I reconnected with something I had always loved—painting. Picking up a brush again brought me back to the pure joy of creation, reminding me of that excitement I felt when I first started this journey.
I’m also passionate about teaching Yoga, Breathwork, and Meditation—these practices bring me a sense of grounding and purpose. And when I’m outdoors, surrounded by nature, that’s when I truly feel alive and connected.

What inspires your artwork?
Nature, in all its forms, is my biggest inspiration. I find beauty in the movement and rhythms of the natural world—the flow of water, the curves of organic elements, the play of light across a landscape. There’s a deeper pattern in nature, a pulse that connects everything around us. When I move, I feel that same energy within me, and my art reflects that.
I see life as a dance of shifting elements—light, air, space, and earth. These elements create both the landscape of our surroundings and the landscape of our minds. My work aims to distill the complexities of life into simple movements and forms. I want to capture the way movement shapes us—emotionally and physically—and honor the forces of nature that guide us through moments of stillness and transformation.

What’s inspiring you these days?
Lately, I’m deeply inspired by the quiet, transformative moments that unfold in both nature and life. Flowers, in particular, captivate me—their beauty, the joy they bring, and their delicate impermanence. I’ve always felt drawn to the elements of nature—the way light changes throughout the day, the gentle movement of the wind, or the peaceful stillness that lingers between moments.
These subtle forces are what ignite my creativity. I’m also fascinated by the constant flow of change and evolution, both in the world around us and within ourselves. It’s the imperceptible shifts, the ebb and flow of life, that I strive to capture in my work. There’s a hidden beauty in the unseen—the quiet rhythms that guide us through emotions, transitions, and moments of stillness.
